When I agreed to teach my sister how to drive, I knew that one of the first things we needed to get was learner driver insurance. I had a friend who had tried teaching her brother how to drive, and he had wrecked her car. She hadn’t had the insurance, and she was responsible for all the damages. As luck would have it, my sister hit a mailbox within two minutes of being behind the wheel. Though there wasn’t much damage, it was enough that it would have been difficult for me to pay for it on my own. The learner driver insurance covered everything, however, so there was no money for me to pay out-of-pocket. Before we had the repairs done, I made sure to take her out repeatedly so she wouldn’t feel bad about damaging the car again after it had been repaired. Sure, enough, she didn’t have any other problems.
